

At the end of the 20th century, a combination of factors including the falling of oil prices and the damages caused by El Nino, has led to a recession of the Ecuadorian economy.. Ecuador has also experienced massive influx of Colombian refugees into its territory.
ACF has intervened in Ecuador since 2006. Since 2009, the organization is implementing a program of community building in order to support women’s social and productive capacities.

HUMANITARIAN CONTEXT
Ecuador is a country with an important number of refugees from Latin America on its territory, 130,000 to be right. This figure is the direct consequence of the armed conflict in Colombia, which has led to a severe humanitarian crisis in the border area.
At the end of the 20th century, a combination of factors including the falling of oil prices and the damages caused by El Nino, has led the economy of the country in a recession.
Measures taken to stabilize the economy, mainly austerity and deprivation, led to a general dissatisfaction, especially among the indigenous population, with fewer resources.
